CHFAU: a Swiss-franc token built on AllUnity’s earlier euro rails

CHFAU did not mark the birth of AllUnity or a new blockchain. It was the 26 February 2026 launch of a Swiss-franc electronic-money token on Ethereum, after a 2023 venture plan, a 2025 BaFin license and the earlier EURAU launch. Its one-franc par value comes with a redemption claim against a regulated issuer, but access, reserves, compliance and contract administration remain material conditions.

Before CHFAU: a euro venture becomes a licensed issuer

DWS, Flow Traders and Galaxy announced their intended AllUnity venture on 12 December 2023. The initial mission was a fully collateralized euro-denominated stablecoin, subject to regulatory and competition approvals. AllUnity GmbH was registered on 27 February 2024; these milestones establish the company’s origin, not CHFAU’s launch date.

BaFin granted AllUnity its e-money-institution license on 1 July 2025. The company launched EURAU on Ethereum on 31 July 2025. CHFAU therefore did not replace EURAU: it extended an operating regulated issuance platform from euros to a second denomination.

What launched on 26 February 2026

The white paper records 25 February 2026 as its B.9 publication date and 26 February as the start of the public offer or admission to trading; current v1.2 says it was last amended on 9 June 2026. AllUnity’s announcement identified the live product as an Ethereum ERC-20, not a governance-token TGE or base-layer mainnet.

Although the white paper’s E.5/E.6 sections state that CHFAU is issued on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tempo, Polygon and Arc, the current product page lists only Ethereum, Polygon, Tempo, Base and Solana, so current Arc support is not treated as verified. Direct minting remains limited to institutional and professional clients.

A conditional claim with elastic supply and issuer controls

The white paper says proceeds are placed in separate accounts at regulated EU credit institutions as CHF cash or qualifying low-risk, highly liquid CHF instruments. Redemption at par requires compliance checks and matching bank details. CHFAU pays no reserve interest, creates no equity or ownership interest, and is outside the cited investor-compensation and deposit-guarantee schemes.

The white paper sets no fixed maximum supply. Etherscan identifies the Ethereum token as an upgradeable proxy whose verified implementation exposes roles for minting, burning, pausing, blacklisted-address burning, role administration and UUPS upgrades. These are issuer-control capabilities, not holder voting rights.

What is AllUnity CHF?

AllUnity CHF (CHFAU) is a Swiss-franc-denominated electronic-money token issued by AllUnity GmbH, the venture formed by DWS, Flow Traders and Galaxy. AllUnity is licensed by BaFin as an e-money institution, and CHFAU is structured as an EMT under MiCAR. One CHFAU has a par value of one Swiss franc; it is not equity in AllUnity, a bank deposit, or a yield-bearing claim on the reserve portfolio.

CHFAU began its public offer and launched as an Ethereum ERC-20 on 26 February 2026. AllUnity’s current product page also lists Polygon, Tempo, Base and Solana. Direct minting through the AllUnity Mint Platform is limited to onboarded institutional and professional clients.

What problem does AllUnity CHF solve?

AllUnity positions CHFAU as regulated digital CHF for payments, settlement and treasury workflows that otherwise depend on banking hours, intermediaries and currency conversion. The relevant gap is the limited availability of an issuer-regulated Swiss-franc unit on public blockchains for business users.

The design trades crypto-style scarcity and permissionless issuance for a legal claim against an identified issuer. Its usefulness therefore depends on reserve management, compliant access, supported-chain operations and the holder’s ability to complete AllUnity’s redemption process.

How does AllUnity CHF work?

The white paper says AllUnity issues CHFAU at par after receiving funds, with no fixed issuance ceiling. Proceeds are held in separate accounts at regulated EU credit institutions as CHF cash or qualifying secure, low-risk and highly liquid CHF-denominated instruments. Supply expands with issuance and contracts through redemption rather than following an allocation or vesting schedule.

Holders have a statutory at-par redemption claim against AllUnity, subject to the CHFAU terms and redemption policy. Redemption requires registration, KYC/AML and sanctions checks, verified source and wallet-control information, and a bank account in the holder’s name; failed checks can lead to denial. On Ethereum, the verified upgradeable implementation exposes role-gated mint, burn, pause, blacklist-related burn, role-administration and UUPS-upgrade functions.

Key facts

  • Issuer: AllUnity GmbH, formed by DWS, Flow Traders and Galaxy and licensed by BaFin as an e-money institution on 1 July 2025.
  • Launch: CHFAU’s public offer and Ethereum ERC-20 launch began on 26 February 2026; this was not AllUnity’s founding or a governance-token TGE.
  • Rights: one CHFAU has a par value of CHF 1 and carries an at-par redemption claim against AllUnity, subject to the terms and compliance process.
  • Reserves: the white paper permits CHF cash or qualifying low-risk, highly liquid CHF instruments in separate accounts at regulated EU credit institutions.
  • Supply and access: there is no fixed maximum; units are issued at par after receipt of funds, and direct minting is limited to onboarded institutional and professional clients.
  • Networks and control: the product page lists Ethereum, Polygon, Tempo, Base and Solana; the Ethereum proxy points to an implementation with role-gated issuance, enforcement and upgrade functions.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is CHFAU?

It is AllUnity GmbH’s Swiss-franc-denominated MiCAR electronic-money token. It launched on Ethereum on 26 February 2026 after AllUnity had obtained its BaFin EMI license and launched EURAU.

Can anyone mint or redeem CHFAU instantly?

No. Direct minting is for onboarded institutional and professional clients. Redemption requires registration, KYC/AML and sanctions checks, verified information and matching bank details; failed checks may result in denial.

What backs CHFAU?

The white paper describes separate accounts at regulated EU credit institutions containing CHF cash or qualifying secure, low-risk, highly liquid CHF-denominated instruments. It does not say the reserve is only cash or specifically Swiss government bonds.

Does CHFAU pay interest or confer ownership?

No. The white paper says holders receive no interest on reserves and no equity or ownership interest in AllUnity. CHFAU is also outside the cited investor-compensation and deposit-guarantee schemes.
