Internet Computer icp
What is Internet Computer?
Internet Computer (ICP) is a decentralized sovereign cloud/blockchain platform where canisters—WebAssembly smart contracts bundling code and persistent state—run replicated across subnet nodes. It hosts complete web services without conventional cloud infrastructure.
What problem does Internet Computer solve?
Conventional blockchains offer limited compute/storage and require users to manage gas and separate servers. Internet Computer addresses this with replicated Wasm canisters that serve HTTP, persist data, and pay for computation through cycles/reverse gas.
How does Internet Computer work?
Applications deploy Wasm canisters to ICP subnets. Consensus finalizes blocks through block making, two-thirds notarization, and two-thirds finalization. Chain-key threshold cryptography distributes key shares across subnet nodes. ICP converts to cycles for computation.
